  • Brian Ruiz graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Political Science in 2005. He received his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 2008 and was admitted to practice law in California in the same year. Mr. Ruiz focuses his practice on family law.

• Jill is a legal secretary and legal assistant since 1996, assists attorneys John H. Spurgeon, Patricia Rayos and Brian Ruiz. She is responsible for the preparation of legal documents, legal research, corresponding with clients and attorneys, managing the calendar and processing billing.
• Jill is a graduate of the University of California Santa Cruz. Jill enjoys the arts, cooking, reading and is the proud mother of a son.

Roubina Gourdikian

• Roubina has more than 10 years experience in preparing income tax returns. She previously was a financial planner in the Pasadena area. She currently lives in Sierra Madre with her husband and two sons.
• She has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Masters in Business Administration.

Jill Betters

• Jill assists Mr. Spurgeon in Tax Controversy cases, including Tax Audits, Appeals and Offer In Compromise.
• Jill is a CTEC licensed tax preparer with over 250 hours of tax education. Jill is the mother of a 10-year-old son who is very active in sports and music.

Lee Sawaya

• Lee is our Staff Accountant with 16 years experience handling bookkeeping and payroll, as well as income tax returns. Lee is a graduate of East Los Angeles College and has one daughter who is currently studying architecture at the University of California at Berkeley.

Danielle Powers

• Danielle is the office receptionist and provides valuable clerical support. In addition to her duties at John Spurgeon & Associates, Danielle attends the Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology and will graduate this year.
